Hell no we ain't shuttin' it down! Kofi Annan can kiss my fat American butt!

Amid reports from the U.N. that some of the treatment of prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility amounted to torture, U.N. Secretary-General/liar/thief Kofi Annan called for the prison to be closed. During an appearance at the Council on Foreign Relations SECDEF Donald Rumsfeld countered:

"He's just flat wrong, we shouldn't close Guantanamo. We have several hundred terrorists — bad people, people that if let back out on the field would try to kill Americans. That's just a fact."
Known for his clear and assertive speech, Rumsfeld also said of Annan:
"He's never been to Guantanamo Bay," whereas representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross "stayed there, lived there 24 hours a day" to observe conditions.
I have always and will continue to question the United States' interest in remaining in the U.N. Its toothless resolutions are scoffed at by those to whom they are issued. It is powerless as a peacekeeping force. It is a fruitless forum for debate and it is a ball and chain that we could do without.
