SEC #1 vs Big Ten #1 for National Championship...(Sounds a whole lot better than Big Ten #1 vs Big Ten #3 for National Championship, now doesn't it?)

OR....

Why was this a contest? Ohio State is the undisputed #1 team in the nation. Michigan finished their season a couple of weeks ago with a loss against...yep...Ohio State. Yet serious consideration was given to allowing Michigan a rematch against Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game. What!?

Lets look at the facts shall we:

  1. Florida played the toughest schedule in College Football. It cannot be intelligently argued otherwise.
  2. Michigan finished their season at 11-1, Florida, however, finished 12-1...same number of losses but one more win.
  3. Florida defeated Arkansas to WIN the SEC title. Michigan finished 3rd in the Big Ten.
  4. Florida went 3-1 against 4 BCS top 25 ranked teams. Michigan went 2-1 against 3 top 25 finishers.

For the life of me, I can't see what the debate was all about. At least the BCS got this one right.
Go Gators!
